Company Name: UBM Asia Limited Job Title: Senior Vice President Michael is Senior Vice President of UBM Asia, the Asia Pacific regional headquarters of United Business Media Ltd (known as UBM). UBM Asia is one of the largest exhibition organisers in the region and has pioneered the exhibition industry into China, India, S.E. Asia and Japan over the last two decades. He is also a Director of Shanghai UBM Sinoexpo International Exhibition Co Ltd, one of the most important independent exhibition organisers in China, and its largest fair is Furniture China in Shanghai which is an annual fair taking up 120,000 net sqm. Over the past four years he has also been instrumental in the formation and growth of UBM India in which time it has become one of the most active exhibition organisers in India. UBM India is also a publisher of trade magazines (IT, Property, Travel and Energy) and medical directories through its sister company, UBM Medica. Michael has previously worked in the UK, New Zealand, Italy, Australia, Belgium, Greece and Hong Kong. Prior to joining UBM Asia in 1994, he was trading director for the UK Global Business Group ‘Vestey” based in Hong Kong. He is currently serving at the following chambers and associations: • Member / Director of the Executive Committee, Treasurer and Chairman of the Sustainable Development Committee of UFI – The Global Association of Exhibition Industry. • Senior Adviser to the Guangzhou Convention and Exhibition Industry Association. • Honorary President of the Federation of Beauty Industry (H.K.). • Member of Executive Committee of the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Industry Association (HKECIA). • Member of Asia Africa Committee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce. • Member of Retail & Tourism Committees of the Hong Kong Coalition of Service Industries. In addition, he was chairman of the HKECIA for 1998-2000 and also the first chairman of the Asia/Pacific Chapter of UFI for 2000-2004. |
