HKCEC
The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) opened in November 1988 after which Hong Kong's exhibition industry experienced a period of accelerated growth. This enabled Hong Kong to establish its position as Asia's trade fair capital and a premier international convention and meeting destination. The HKCEC is centrally located on Hong Kong island within proximity of a large number of the city's finest hotels and surrounded by business and tourist amenities. It is managed and operated by Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited (HML), a private and professional management company.
Having experienced escalating demand from its time of opening, the first expansion to the HKCEC opened in June 1997. With ever increasing demand thereafter, the Centre completed its second expansion in April 2009 increasing overall rentable space to 91,500 square metres (985,000 sq ft), including 72,000 square metres (775,000 sq ft) of exhibition space. A third expansion is already in planning. The Centre has been used for an average of 111 exhibitions each year over the past 5 fiscal years.
